Going Off Two Early

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Maybe I am getting older and less tolerant against stupid people (the bane of my existance (see also, The French, The Americans and adverts about insurance) or maybe people are just generally becoming more inept at using modern technology.

I say this because watching some ham fisted oaf attempting to use a PED on my counter, mashing the card into it and then attempting to “knuckle” each number key has happened just a little too often of late for my liking. Ditto people who think they understand how something works and while I try to put across to them how it actually works they ignore my vain pleas of clemancy and allow their minds to run riot (”Excuse me young man, but these mp3 players, do they use coal.?” “No, the use electricity Sir, this is 2008 not 1839″ “Oh, well my son said the best ones use coal instead so I will keep looking for one that is powered by steam” “Ok Sir, I hope you end up tortured by nipple electrodes and your house infested with gypsies, good day”).

And if ONE more person asks me if “This wireless adapter will connect to the internet over a mobile network” I WILL NOT be held responsible for the extraction of said device from their bodily apertures.

I am watching Chili playing Endless Ocean (the Wii game, as she has newly aquired the system) which is a very bizarre but remarkably relaxing little time waster to watch). It has such a nice musical backing and a genuinely brilliant setup for game play that even just having it on my new TV (oh it does look so nice) makes me about 72% more floppy (no NOT like that), calm and superbly white than other leading brands.

We have been growing Triops (little shrimp things) and building Lego (my creative side needs an escape when my railway is in disarray).

Oh and I have discovered the wonderful ITV player… so now I can watch Jeremy Kyle when I am not able to be at home when it is on… brilliant.! A chance to watch lower class northern slappers and shouty little pikeys and chavs all the live long day.!

A Sad Event.

I have bad news I am afraid… last night our little hamster, Lucretia, passed away. It was very sudden, possibly cancer but we will never know.

Didn’t want to say much more than that apart from the fact we are both rather upset.

She was only young and such a good little sweetheart.

She will be very sadly missed.

A Nest Of Gerbils

I had someone add, or at least attempt to add, my lovely Bunny self to their Facebook friends list earlier. Now I like to keep a tight ship on this sort of thing and tend to only have people I consider important to me in my lists both on there and Myspace. The “add”, such as it was, was made by someone with my name… save for the addition of two (rather greedy, but he was from Canada, Calgary to be exact) middle names… Matthew and Michael.

From a quick browse it was obvious he only added me because we share a similar name. Now call me odd, but why would you do that.?? Before the internet I never received a letter from a sharer of my name who lives just outside Dorking… so why now.?

Why on earth would someone assume that I would wish to converse with them purely on the name thing.? I do enjoy meeting new people. I like having a wider “fan base” on here as well as just spreading myself around. But surely adding everyone in the western world who happens to join monikas with you is ridiculous.! I implore all of you… if you want to add me then feel free, but please let us have a little more in common than just that. Does that sound mean.??

Monday has come and gone again, but it feels like Tuesday as I worked yesterday and had to watch the Grand Prix on catch up afterwards. Nailbiting.! So unlucky for Massa but so good for our Lewis with an extra point over the now second place Kimi. I followed it with the last two races (damn Sky+ box missed the first one) of the BTCC with some great scraps and two very sick sounding Seat Leons of Plato and Turner dying in both races. Great work from Jonny Kane and Andrew Jordan though. Was so different to the F1.!! Hehe.

Saturday this week brings me to my birthday. A little milestone perhaps.? Who knows, but at least I am going to be able to spend an entire weekend with Chili as both of us are not working, and I get to go out Saturday night and enjoy the delights of the London and the Cabot once more. I WILL NOT DRINK SO MUCH THIS TIME, thanks Alex, sod you and your bloody tequila.! Hehe. If you wanna join us then drop me a line.!!!
